Yellow can appear as a large colour block or as the edge of a cut-fruit design. Compare the whole lemon and lemon slice with that distinction in mind before planning a colour-led collection.

A whole kiwi and a slice can form a simple visual story without being described as a supplied set. The useful question is whether the two references remain recognisable when displayed together.

A kiwi doll can be differentiated by headwear, shirt graphics or the fruit reference itself. Do not shorten these items to a colour choice; the details perform different jobs in the character design.

A crown can be the detail that separates two otherwise related fruit characters. Keep it visible in the selection sheet and product name rather than assuming a buyer will remember which photograph they approved.

A grape character with a heart and green or purple grape references do not differ along one simple axis. Separate the accessory decision from the colour decision when you show them to a buyer.

When a buyer does not recognise a fruit name, add a plain visual explanation rather than replacing it with a more familiar but inaccurate fruit. Fig, guava and loquat references are useful tests of that approach.

A whole fruit and a slice should not rely on their names to explain the difference. Build the image sequence around the outline and exposed centre so the buyer can compare the references immediately.

A fruit display does not need every character at the same brightness. Durian, mangosteen and passion fruit references let you compare contrasting visual weights before adding more colours to the selection.

For small round fruit characters, the surface and top details may do most of the identifying work. Compare bayberry, lychee and rambutan references in close-up as well as in the complete product view.

A paired cherry and a crowned cherry communicate through different motifs. One emphasises the relationship between two fruit forms; the other adds a character accessory. That distinction is more useful than grouping both under a red colour theme.

Accessories can establish a tropical mood without a busy background. A coconut with a straw and fruit characters wearing sunglasses offer different ways to make that association. Choose the motif that fits the intended display rather than collecting every available accessory.

A plain fruit character and a dressed fruit doll can sit in the same collection, but they should not compete for the same job. Decide whether the doll is the lead character or a companion before laying out the range.
