A hunch can start useful design work if the team is willing to learn from it. Convert it into a question before building an elaborate presentation around the answer.
IDEO.org's Explore Your Hunch method encourages investigating an idea through human-centred design activity. IDEO.org — Explore your hunch.
Name the uncertainty
For an illustrative character proposal, write what you think will make the idea understandable and what observation would challenge that belief. Keep the question focused enough that a simple prototype or conversation can produce relevant evidence.

Choose a proportionate test
Use the smallest suitable exercise and record its limits. A reaction to a concept image may help refine recognition but not establish willingness to buy the final physical product. Do not claim a commercial result from a design-learning activity.
When the evidence disagrees with the hunch, revise the direction rather than only the wording of the presentation. A useful hypothesis makes change possible; it should not become a slogan the team must defend.
