A memorable research story can help a team understand an experience. Its emotional force should not erase the conditions that made the account specific.
IDEO.org's Share Inspiring Stories method helps teams make sense of learning from research. IDEO.org Design Kit — Share Inspiring Stories.
Retain the setting
For a gift-character project, preserve who was involved, what happened and which part was directly observed. Avoid polishing the account into a more marketable story than the evidence supports.

Ask what it suggests
The account may reveal a useful question or explain a design tension. It does not establish how common the experience is. Compare it with other findings before turning it into an audience-wide claim, design requirement or published testimonial.
