PLUSHIP Kiwi Plush Toy – Lettered T-Shirt - product view 01

What to Include in a Custom Plush Design Brief

A useful custom plush brief tells the project team what the character should look like, how it will be used and which questions still need answers. It does not have to be a polished design document. Clear artwork, a short requirements list and a single point of approval can provide a much stronger starting point than a long message with conflicting references.

Describe the project in one paragraph

Explain the character idea, intended audience and use. Include the destination market and whether the project is for a brand, event or retail collection. If you have a target date or quantity, label it as a requirement to discuss rather than an agreed production commitment. Keep unknown information marked as open.

Supply the clearest available artwork

Provide front, side and back references where available. If you only have one view, say which details on the unseen areas remain undecided. Separate your original artwork from inspiration images. Include confirmation that you have permission to use any supplied logos, characters or other protected artwork for the intended project.

Define the features that must survive

List the essential silhouette, expression, colours and clothing details. Explain which parts may be simplified if needed. A shirt graphic and a facial expression may have very different importance to the identity of the character. Ranking these details helps the team discuss trade-offs without losing sight of the main idea.

Add practical requirements

Specify a target size and the dimension it refers to, such as overall height. Note packaging preferences, label requirements and the intended user group. Ask for confirmation of materials and construction rather than copying specifications from an unrelated product. Any testing or documentation needs should be discussed for the actual design and market.

Define the review process

Name one person or role responsible for collecting feedback. Use a single consolidated revision list with reference images and a clear version label. Separate requested changes from questions. Record what must be checked in the sample before a later production decision can be made.

Finish the brief with an open-questions section covering feasibility, sample arrangements, commercial terms and delivery planning. Send it through the PLUSHIP custom enquiry route so the next discussion can focus on the missing decisions instead of reconstructing the project from scattered messages.
